Could it Be Whiplash?

The Easter Holidays are on the way and for us mini-break-loving Brits that usually means travelling in “choc-a-block” traffic… and a higher risk of being involved in a minor road traffic accident.

While the term “whiplash” is often associated with neck pain, the condition can actually cause many other painful and distressing symptoms. These usually develop within 24 hours of the injury and may include:

  • Neck pain that worsens with movement
  • A decrease in range of motion in the neck
  • Headaches that originate at the base of the skull
  • Pain or discomfort in the upper back, arms or shoulders
  • Numbness or tingling in the arms
  • Excessive tiredness

In some cases, whiplash may cause blurred vision, dizziness, difficulty concentrating, depression and memory problems.

Visit your GP if you experience any of the above symptoms following a road traffic accident or any other traumatic injury. Have an ‘egg-xcellent’ Easter and stay safe on the roads!
