Beware of the Wrath of the Winter Weather!

With pavements laced with frost and roads hiding that devilish black ice, it is little wonder that winter time is the number one season for trips and falls. While the majority of slippery slips will leave you with nothing more than blushed cheeks, it’s important to err on the side of caution when you head out this winter. Here our Stoke on Trent chiropractor lists three effective tips to avoid the wrath of the winter weather!

1: Watch Your Step

It sounds obvious, but the best way to avoid a fall is to simply watch where you are stepping. Always opt for the path of least resistance (or the least ice-covered) during the winter.

2: Wear Good Shoes

It’s hardly a major revelation that high heels and ice don’t mix! Wear boots with rough or textured soles to walk in ice and snow; these will provide you with traction that will help to lower the risk of slipping. Carry any dress shoes in your bag. Changing in and out of different shoes may seem like a hassle, but it’s a necessity to help protect yourself from falling.

3: Relax

If you do experience a fall, try your best to relax. Tensing up and trying to fight the fall can lead to more serious injuries. If you fall forward, try to roll with the fall. If you fall backward, try to sit down on your bottom.

Go carefully, folks!
