Dr Dupont has spent many thousands of hours studying the spine and the nervous system in great detail. He will take your problems seriously and spend the required time finding the right approach for you. You will get expert diagnosis and care. Dr Dupont uses x-ray imaging technology and computerised posture analysis. Dr Dupont regularly reviews research papers and journals, attends seminars, and further education in the field of spinal health. This ensures the highest standards of safety in Chiropractic care.
Chiropractic is a primary contact health care profession. This means that a Chiropractor has the skills to diagnose, provide care for and help prevent mechanical disorders of the spine and the effects of these disorders on the functions of the nervous system.
It also means that if the examination results indicate that your particular case would be better helped by another type of care you will be referred to the appropriate health professional.
On arrival to our clinic, you will be met by Ann or Deborah – one of our friendly Chiropractic Assistants and immediately made to feel at home in a calm and relaxing environment. They will then assist you in filling out some brief paperwork (if you have not already done so before you attend your first appointment), which will help us fully understand your presenting complaint/s.
Once the paperwork has been completed, information will be gathered about your Digital Posture Analysis and then you will be taken through to one of the examination rooms where you will be met by your chiropractor. Here, your chiropractor will take a very thorough history about your condition, your past medical history and your lifestyle. It is very important at this stage to tell your chiropractor as much information as possible, as even things that you think may not be important, they may be, and may be affecting your condition.
Once the case history has been completed your chiropractor will start your examination. The examination will include a full chiropractic, orthopaedic and neurological examination.
Once this has been completed your chiropractor will then decide whether any other further investigations such as x-rays are necessary to help with a more accurate diagnosis. Your initial consultation should take approximately 45 minutes.
Your chiropractor will then need time to thoroughly consider your problem and you will be asked to make another appointment so that you can go through the results with him.
During this visit, the chiropractor will explain your problem in detail as well as how to get rid of it, how long it will take, and how to stop it coming again. Once you have a detailed understanding of your condition and what to expect we will begin with the treatment. All treatments are tailored towards the individual.
Once you have started you chiropractic care, your chiropractor will plan your treatment. Each patient has a personal treatment plan which normally falls into 3 phases.
The initial phase of treatment or Relief Care
Often people first consult us with some sort of symptoms such as pain or stiffness. The main aim of the initial phase of treatment is to reduce symptoms by improving the function of your joints, muscles and nervous system. Treatment at this phase is fairly frequent.
Rehabilitation or Corrective phase
The aim of this phase of treatment is to further improve the function of your joints, muscles and nervous system and to promote complete healing. During this phase, your symptoms will have reduced considerably and treatments are less frequent.
You are often given exercises and ergonomic advice to help rehabilitate your condition and to help your body to maintain the corrections made and to help avoid recurrence of your symptoms.
Prevention or Maintenance phase
Many people who have long standing chronic conditions, with perhaps wear and decay, may be at risk of recurrence of their symptoms. Your chiropractor will tell you if you are at risk of this and will give you self-advice to help to avoid it. We will also often recommend to our patient the third preventative phase of care. This phase aims to maintain the improved function achieved with treatment and may help to prevent recurrence of symptoms. This phase of care is much less frequent.
“Posture affects and moderates every physiologic function from breathing to hormonal production. Spinal pain, headache, mood, blood pressure, pulse and lung capacity are among the functions most easily influenced by posture.” AJPM 1994.
Your posture is vital to how your body looks and feels. Dr. Dupont helps people just like you regain a great posture. At City Chiropractic, in addition to neurological and orthopaedic examinations, we use the latest digital technology to accurately assess your posture. To have Dr Dupont perform this powerful test, we simply take 2 photos of you, one from the front and one from the side.
These photos are then fed into the computer and just a few moments later, the computer uses some sophisticated maths to accurately evaluate your posture and calculates if any extra pressure is being placed on your spine due to your posture.
Your chiropractor will go through the analysis at your next appointment along with his other findings. We are the only Chiropractic Clinic in Staffordshire to use Digital Posture Pro.
We have digital X-ray facilities at our Newcastle clinic and once your X-rays are taken they are developed promptly and sent to the Stoke clinic.
