Most of us don’t have the luxury of bringing along our heavenly mattresses on a camping trip. But you don’t have to sacrifice your back health to sleep beneath the stars this summer.
The trick is to be sensible and pack something such as a foam sleeping pad to provide you with cushioning and support while you sleep. Other options that can keep back pain at bay include memory foam mattress toppers, air mattresses, inflating sleeping pads or even camp cots if you have the space.
If your pain is more neck related then remember to pack a decent pillow for your camping getaway. Ask your camp mate to check your sleeping position from behind. Ideally, your head, neck and spine should all be in one long line. If your head is tilted up or down then it’s probably time to invest in a new pillow.
